One of the greatest things about my job is being able to feed both my loves of travel and wine all in one!
Last week I was luck enough to take a private tour with Idaho Wine Tours owner, Joel, with a dear friend of mine for a working “mommy day away”. Originally we were going to only have time for three wineries but somehow we were able to make five stops instead of three!
Of the 52 wineries in the state of Idaho we hit some of the oldest! Koenig Distillery and Winery, HAT Ranch Winery, Ste. Chapelle Winery, Huston Vineyards, Williamson Orchards and Vineyards.
One of my favorite things about being in the wine industry is how each winery is so incredibly different from one another, visiting FIVE wineries all within a rock’s throw from one another are ALL different. The wine served, the atmosphere and my favorite…the people!
I have learned a few things over the last several years about wineries and the making of wine but every time I visit a winery to do a tasting or tour I ALWAYS learn something more about this industry.
So big take away’s from my big wine tasting afternoon – GO WINE TASTING! Even though Idaho doesn’t have the largest number of wineries in comparison to our neighbors to the West of us but these wineries are worth the trip! I plan to be visiting all 52 wineries in the state before the year is done.

Looks like you have a great job, and you’re so right …. it’s the people. We holiday in France every year especially Burgundy and we know some great producers who welcome us back every year to taste the previous years crop still in the barrel. You don’t get THAT very often!
You’re right that is a special honor! I am very jealous of you
