1️⃣ Explore Duval Street
Kick off your trip of “things to do in Key West” with heading into the heart and sound of Key West! Duval Street is packed with vibrant bars, unique shops, and delicious eateries. From sipping on margaritas at Sloppy Joe’s to dancing the night away at Irish Kevin’s, Duval Street is a hub of fun, excitement, and good vibes. 🍹💃
2️⃣ Watch the Sunset at Mallory Square
Key West sunsets are legendary, my friend! Make your way to Mallory Square and witness a breathtaking, picture-perfect moment. Grab a cold drink, enjoy the lively street performers’ acts, and witness the sky transform into a kaleidoscope of colors. It’s a true feast for the senses! Get there early to find a good view of the festivities and the sunset. Sometimes you have to get creative like you see me doing below.
3️⃣ Visit the Southernmost Point
Get ready to strike a pose at the southernmost point of the continental United States! 📸 This iconic landmark is a must-visit for any Key West adventurer. Soak in the salty breeze, take a selfie with the colorful buoy, and check off a bucket list item. It’s all about capturing moments and making memories, right? Though this might not be the top of everyone’s list when visiting Key West – while you’re here you should at least grab a photo!
The large painted buoy was established as a tourist attraction in 1983 by the city at the corner of South Street and Whitehead Street. To someone who enjoys traveling to interesting landmark locations, this was a lot of fun for me to have my photo taken at the Southernmost Point of the continental United States.
4️⃣ Snorkel or Dive in the Coral Reefs
If you’re a water baby like me, you’ll absolutely love this one! Key West is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. Take a snorkeling or diving excursion and get up close and personal with colorful fish, stunning coral formations, and maybe even encounter some cute sea turtles. 🐢🐠 It’s like diving into a real-life Finding Nemo!
When I visited, I was there during January and didn’t have time to schedule a dive, however, I did get in the water with my snorkel gear, highly recommend! Or if your heart calls to the sea in a different way – schedule a boat charter to cast your net to the beautiful blue waters and see if you catch anything!
5️⃣ Get Lost in the Old Town
Honestly, this was my favorite time when I visited Key West. Roaming around the charming streets of Key West’s Old Town is like stepping back in time. Admire the picturesque architecture, browse through local boutiques, and indulge in some mouthwatering key lime pie. Trust me, this historic district has so much charm and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Be sure you keep a sharp eye out too – some of the things to do in Key West are harder to find. Key West is known for hiding charming little stores tucked away from the main line of sight.
6️⃣ Take a Sunset Cruise⛵🌞
To spice up your Key West experience, hop aboard a sunset cruise! Sail off into the horizon on a catamaran, sip on tropical cocktails, and enjoy panoramic views of the turquoise waters as the sun paints the sky with shades of gold and pink. Plus, you might even spot some playful dolphins swimming alongside your boat. 🐬⛵ Pure magic! ✨Honestly, if you know you’re going to Key West, this should be at the top of you “things to do in Key West” list. You will want to ensure you book this early because it is very likely that during peak seasons this activity will be fully booked!
