Day 1: Time-Traveling in Ancient Rome

Wake up bright and early, buttercup! 🌅 We’re time-traveling today! The Colosseum awaits with its gladiatorial glory. Pro tip: Buy your tickets online to dodge the massive queues – your future self will thank you! 🎟️✌️ Next up, stroll over to the Roman Forum to whisper secrets with the ancient stones that have seen it all. Then, ascend to Palatine Hill for breathtaking views that’ll stun you into silence and awe! 📸🔥

Morning Exploration 🗺️✨

Colosseum: Skip-the-line tickets are your BFFs here (because who really wants to spend their vacay in lines?). Marvel at the architecture, imagine the gladiators, and snap those iconic selfies. 🤳 Tip: Early morning light = Chef’s kiss for photos!

Roman Forum: Just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It’s like walking through an ancient marketplace, minus the togas. Well, unless that’s your style – no judgment here! Give yourself plenty of time to explore. Ancient nooks and crannies to explore can suck up a lot of time and before you know it, you’re starving and getting “hangry” (ask me how I know, or ask my husband lol)

Palatine Hill: The views, folks! It’s where Rome was born, and also where you’ll feel like Roman royalty overlooking your empire. Crowns optional but encouraged. 👑

Lunch and Tips: 🍝

Refuel: Grab a slice of pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) – it’s basically an Italian high five to your taste buds. You can pick these up at local kiosks
Hydrate: Did you know Rome is dotted with nasoni (public water fountains)? Free, fresh, and chill – these fountains were installed in the 1870s and there are nearly 3,000 all around the city. Totally safe to drink from, so refill your water bottles where you can!

Afternoon Vibes 🕶️

Leisure Time: Stroll through the winding streets, gelato in hand, as you make your way towards the Pantheon for a late afternoon gander. Surprise! It’s free.

Day 2: The Vatican City Extravaganza

Today, we’re mixing divine art with divine vibes. 🎨✨ Get ready for the Vatican Museums! Book a skip-the-line tour to breeze past the queues and straight into historical heaven. The Sistine Chapel ceiling will have you gasping like you’ve seen a ghost—Michelangelo’s masterpiece, folks! Wrap up with St. Peter’s Basilica and climb its dome for a heavenly panorama of Rome. 🕊️💒

Full Day Affair 🕊️✨

Vatican Museums: Yes, it’s plural for a reason—miles of awe-inspiring art, culminating in the jaw-dropping Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo really left no stone unturned here. I recommend buying a skip the line pass and scheduling your entry to be one of the first people there in the morning. It gets very crowded after 10am and you’ll feel more like a herd of cattle being herded into the corral (not the best experience, especially for the first time).

St. Peter’s Basilica: The climb to the dome is like a stairway to heaven with a view to match. Feel the history beneath your feet and above your head! Be sure you follow the rules on taking pictures, trust me getting kicked out of St. Peter’s is embarrassing but also a story you’ll carry with you for FOR-EVER

Survival Tips 🛡️

Skip-the-Line: Seriously, your time is gold here. Plus, more time for gelato later!
Dress Code: Shoulders and knees under wraps, folks! It’s a sign of respect and, honestly, a good style challenge.
Lunch Break: Tuck into some Roman street food. Supplì (fried risotto balls) will change your life, I swear.

Rome

Day 3: Basking in the Roman Culture

Time to say “Ciao” to your inner historian and “Buongiorno” to the epicurean explorer in you! Wander the cobblestoned streets of Trastevere for that oh-so-authentic Roman vibe. 🌹🍕 Dive into a Roman trattoria to indulge in pasta that’ll make you weep happy tears. Later, toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain – a return trip to Rome: guaranteed! Round off your Roman rendezvous at the Pantheon to marvel at its architectural genius. Mind. Blown. 🤯

It’s your last day, and we’re going full La Dolce Vita with a side of wanderlust and whimsy.

Morning Marvels 💫☕

Trastevere: This neighborhood is like your cooler, artsier friend who knows all the best places. Think cobbled lanes, hidden cafés, and a vibe that’s 100% Roma! This is my favorite place to just wander the streets and soak up the atmosphere around me.
Monti: Boutique shopping and vintage markets. Find a unique souvenir, or just sip on a cappuccino and people-watch.

Afternoon Adventures 🌺✌️

Trevi Fountain: Make a wish… or three! One coin for return, two for love, three for… well, a mystery. 🤐 If you want to go when the crowds are minimal you have to be there at the crack of dawn. In the afternoon it will be more crowded, but you can still check it off your bucket list at any time of day!
Pantheon: Late afternoon light makes the oculus (the giant hole in the ceiling) act like a spotlight. Hello, heavenly lighting!

Evening Escapades 🍕💃

Piazza Navona: End your Roman holiday with a night in this lively square. Artists, musicians, and the smell of authentic pizza in the air – it’s the perfect Italian night out.
Pro Tip: 🚶‍♂️See where the night takes you but keep an eye out for a gelateria for one last gelato. But if you couldn’t tell, I recommend either a Capaccino or a gelato at any time of day – this is how you experience Italy! 🍨

🚀 In Conclusion: Rome in 3 Days? Mission Possible! 🚀

Before You Jet Off…

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day nor can it be explored in one day! 🏛️😉 Here’s the ultimate pro tip: Wear comfy shoes, stay hydrated, and keep your camera at the ready – Rome is ready for its close-up, and so are you! 📷💖

Arrivederci, and may your Roman holiday be as epic as the 1953 classic movie with Audre Hepburn and Gregory Peck, which I also highly recommend watching before you go. That is what I did before jetting off to Europe for my first solo trip when I was 16, it is something that sticks with you long after you’ve left the Eternal City.
