Oregon’s rainy days might make you want to stay indoors, but in Tualatin Valley, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities to keep the whole family entertained, rain or shine. Whether you’re bouncing at a trampoline park, marveling at rocks and minerals, or hiking through lush, misty trails, Tualatin Valley has something for everyone. Here’s your guide to embracing Oregon’s cozy season with rainy day activities that are perfect for kids and adults alike.

Driving from Seattle with the rain hitting my windshield, a cup of coffee in my hand and my favorite song on the radio, I am ready to go and explore the Tualatin Valley – rain or shine!

Jump for Joy at Sky Zone Trampoline Park

If your kids wake up with as much energy as mine, you might want to kick off your rainy-day adventure with some high-flying fun at Sky Zone Trampoline Park. With wall-to-wall trampolines, a foam pit, and even dodgeball games, this is the perfect place for kids to burn off energy while staying dry. Sky Zone offers a variety of activities for all ages, so parents can join in on the fun or relax while the kids play. It’s an ideal indoor destination for family fun on a drizzly day.

Explore Nature’s Beauty on a Morning Hike

Rain doesn’t stop nature lovers in Oregon! Bundle up in rain gear and head to the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge or Cooper Mountain Nature Park for a serene morning hike. The misty air and gentle rain add a magical touch to the lush trails, and kids will love spotting birds, frogs, and other wildlife. These parks offer well-maintained paths suitable for families, so even young hikers can join in the adventure.

Play and Explore at the Flip Museum

The Flip Museum is a delightful indoor play space for families with smaller kids, even infants! Designed to spark curiosity and creativity, this museum offers hands-on exhibits and activities that are perfect for young children. With climbing structures, imaginative play zones, and all kinds of foam toys, the Flip Museum ensures little ones stay engaged and entertained, no matter the weather.

Even while traveling with an infant, my son and I spent a wonderful morning here. It is the perfect way for him to explore his senses and stretch out after he has been in the baby carrier for most of the trip.

Get Crafty at AR Workshop

Unleash your inner artist at AR Workshop, a crafting studio that offers workshops for both kids (ages 6+) and adults. I loved how they have a seasonal rotating craft menu you can choose to do if you wander in (like I did), sign up for classes, host parties and so much more!

Zip Through the Rain at Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour

For a more adventurous outing, head to Pumpkin Ridge Zip Tour. The rain adds an extra layer of excitement and chills to this outdoor experience as you soar through the treetops and take in breathtaking views of the misty forest around you. It was absolutely magical to share this stunning view with my daughter, who was experiencing the thrill of zip lining for the first time during our tour.

As we reached the tour’s highest point, we could see fog lifting from the treetops and sunshine burning through the once-raining clouds. While this activity is best for older kids and adults, it’s a thrilling way to embrace the rain and enjoy Oregon’s natural beauty.
