Malta’s capital city, Valletta, is a UNESCO World Heritage site offering many historical and architectural wonders. Don’t miss St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Upper Barrakka Gardens, and the Grandmaster’s Palace.
There is so much to see and experience in Valletta! I would recommend spending a couple days there. And the best thing is to just wander around the narrow streets of Valletta.

One of the main reasons why we booked a trip to Malta was for its world-renowned dive spots! Malta’s waters are renowned for their excellent visibility and diverse marine life. Diving enthusiasts can explore shipwrecks, underwater caves, and vibrant reefs around the islands.
Absolutely, here are some of the top diving spots around the beautiful islands of Malta:
- Qawra Point: Located in the North of Malta, it’s a shallow bay perfect for try diving.
- Cirkewwa Arch: This beautiful natural rock formation located 20 meters underwater presents a unique diving experience.
- Rozi Wreck: A 40-meter-long tugboat wreck that’s a dive site filled with history and marine life.
- MV Hephaestus: This is a former oil tanker dive site located at Xatt l-Ahmar Gozo, wrecked at Qawra Point in Malta.
- Cominoland, Karwela, and Xlendi: These three wrecks located in Gozo provide an interesting exploration for divers.

Comino is a small island between Malta and Gozo, famous for the Blue Lagoon—a picturesque bay with turquoise waters. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing in this stunning setting.
Visit the fortified city of Mdina
Often called the “Silent City,” Mdina is a beautifully preserved medieval walled town. Stroll through its narrow streets, visit St. Paul’s Cathedral and enjoy breathtaking views from its bastions.
Did you know that the city of Mdina used to be the capitol city of Malta? Now, of course, that is Valletta, but when the Phoenician settlers came to Malta in the 8th century, they founded the city of Mdina. At this time the city was called Maleth. The city has taken on many names but now it seems to almost be missing a name all together and is known only as the “Silent city”.
It is absolutely stunning! I highly recommend taking a day trip or even stay for a few days! Though the city is small there is always something more to discover through these narrow and historic streets.
Go to Gozo
Take a ferry to the sister island of Gozo, known for its rustic charm, picturesque countryside, and stunning Azure Window (although it collapsed in 2017, the site remains beautiful). Visit the Citadel and the stunning Ramla Bay.
Taste the local cuisine
Don’t miss the opportunity to savor traditional Maltese dishes, such as rabbit stew (Fenek), pastizzi (flaky pastries filled with ricotta or peas), and hobz biz-zejt (Maltese bread with tomatoes, olives, and tuna).
Go to the Three Cities
Explore the historic cities of Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua, collectively known as the Three Cities. These areas offer a glimpse into Malta’s maritime past, with beautiful architecture and waterfront views.
