Why I created bougie wine tribe

Who I am in the Wine Industry

Welcome to the Bougie Wine Tribe! Let me give you a little background on my experience and why I created the Bougie Wine Tribe.

In 2016, I started working at a small winery in the middle of (what kind of feels like) nowhere in Southern Idaho. I was hired as the marketing manager and knew absolutely nothing about wine. However, in marketing, I need to know how to talk to my ideal demographic – so I started to learn as much as I could about the wine industry, the wine-making process, and what goes into each step from the vineyard to selling a bottle of wine in the tasting room. Little did I know that that would be my first step towards where I am now!

Since 2016, I have earned my Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) levels one and two and my French Wine Scholar certifications. Rather than pursue a career in the service industry for wine, I found my passion in educating others! Finding ways to make wine and exploring new wines that are more open to the “everyday consumer” and showing how to have fun learning more about wine for lovers of every experience level!

Teaching About Wine

In 2019, my husband’s job moved us to Southern Spain! Little did I know then that we were moving to Sherry territory! One thing I heard a lot from the other Americans in our community was that they thought that Spain didn’t make good wine (because all the local wine was sherry). My response was, “Bite your tongue!” and I then started the Basic to Bougie Wine Classes.

For four years, I taught wine classes that varied from tasting through different countries like Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Germany, South Africa, and Argentina to more technical wine classes like tasting through a single varietal grown in different terrior locations or my “glass class” which taught how drinking wine from the proper wine glass can elevate your overall experience.

Why I Created the Bougie Wine Tribe

When I decided to create the Bougie Wine Tribe, I combined my years of experience traveling around Europe’s most renowned wine regions, my love of teaching about wine, and my desire to support women who have expressed how they want to travel but are too nervous to travel “like me” and JUST GO even if it was solo (actually, it was always with my daughter, so it wasn’t technically solo, but still, you get the idea).

I want to empower women to live their best Bougie lives while enjoying wine and learning more of the “ins and outs” of wine in a luxurious manner!
